We use four rules to keep our maps of expertise easy to understand and remember:

1. Our map theme helps to make terms meaningful. Since travel is so common, the theme connects the ideas.

2. We use small groups of terms. Two to five terms in a group are easy to remember. If we need 6 or more, we either divide the group or create a meaningful acronym.

3. We repeat our use of keywords many times. We boldface each term, provide a hover-over definition, and list it in the glossary.

4. We encourage reflection with a response form. If we have enough responses to a particular term, we will summarize them and create a link to the summary in the glossary.
